At Duquesne, volunteerism is more than a time-honored tradition. It's a shared commitment by students, faculty and staff alike. We regularly donate time, talent, financial resources and material goods with the goal of making a positive difference in the lives of others, particularly those who are disadvantaged and undeserved.

The energy and interests of this vast network of generous individuals is organized for the greatest good through our umbrella organization known as Duquesne University Volunteers, or DUV.

The acronym is a fitting tribute to our Spiritan heritage, where ‘the Spirit who give life” continues to influence and guide those who answer the University's call for service to the Church, the community, the nation and the world.

Established in 1989, the DUV program is distinguished by its depth and breadth. DUV coordinates thousands of individuals and organizations that dedicate tens of thousands of hours of volunteer service to hundreds of agencies each year. Whether they work with campus programs or with non-profit agencies and organizations, all University volunteers receive support and recognition through the DUV program.

If you are a Duquesne University student, faculty or staff member, and you volunteer in any way, YOU ARE A DUV!
