Music Therapy

| Did you ever play music to express your feelings or change your mood? Music can have a powerful impact on a person’s total well being. A music therapist is a trained professional who uses music to improve and enhance the physical, psychological and emotional health of the individual. He or she achieves this through a treatment plan that is focused on goals and objectives. Duquesne’s Music Therapy curriculum offers an integrated musicianship program with emphasis on composition, singing, improvisation, and music and movement, combined with a mastery of therapeutic training. A six-month internship at one of the numerous training sites approved by the American Music Therapy Association is required at the completion of academic training. Music Therapy students have practicum opportunities in hospitals, school systems, geriatric sites and rehabilitation programs. | Therapy HighlightsSaturday, October 24, 2009: November 13-15, 2009: |
