Freshman Development
For many new college students, freshman year can be an exciting and daunting experience. Duquesne offers a number of programs to help ease the transition:
- New Student Orientation Program
- Freshman Parent Weekend
- New Student Mentor Program
- New Student Support Services Fair
- Freshman Weekend Programs
- Freshman Class Advisory Committee (for leadership development)
- Student Support Services on Campus
Academic Performance
The Freshman Development Director also advises Phi Eta Sigma (Freshman Honor Society) which is a national honor society for freshman students who display superior academic ability (GPA 3.5 or higher) and performance.
The Office of Freshman Development also monitors freshman grades and assists freshmen with finding tutors when needed.

About our Office
The Office of Freshman Development and Special Student Services is ready to help freshmen and their families transition to college life. We also assist all University students with documented disabilities.
We help coordinate Orientation and other activities to ease your way during your freshman year. If you have a question or problem, we can also provide referrals to the many other student services and Student Life departments.
